Practices

Trauma Focus-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. I have witnessed the transformation of children and adolescents when using this practice. It integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques to help them process and cope with traumatic experiences, involving phases like psychoeducation, skill-building, trauma narrative, and cognitive restructuring for distorted thoughts, often with parental involvement for support and healing. TF-CBT is effective in reducing PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms related to trauma.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s. It is primarily used to treat individuals who have experienced trauma. EMDR is a structured and evidence-based therapy that aims to help individuals process and integrate distressing memories to reduce their emotional impact and facilitate healing. It emphasizes the role of bilateral stimulation (eye movement, tapping, etc.) in accessing and reprocessing targeted traumatic memories to promote adaptive resolution and psychological well-being.

Yoga Therapy

Yoga does the body good. It is described as medicine for the soul. Yoga therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses yoga practices—such as postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), meditation, and relaxation techniques—to improve physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Evidence-based research studies have shown that yoga therapy can be effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, and other conditions. Practices sessions are personalized based on the client's needs, health conditions, and goals. Practices are adapted to accommodate physical abilities and limitations. Yes, it will and can be done remotely.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a holistic approach to psychotherapy that considers the mind-body connection integral to healing. It focuses on bodily sensations, emotions, and physical responses to address psychological issues, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain associated with trauma. Techniques include mindfulness, movement, breath work, and body awareness to release stored trauma in the body and promote overall well-being. It is like applying acupuncture to the nervous system.
